01About This Project

A digital mission to the
heart of the Sahara

The Sahara Belt Initiative is a Spirit-led, data-driven movement to reach the most spiritually isolated corridor in Africa. Combining satellite broadcasting, AI-powered discipleship, and grassroots community transformation, this project brings the Gospel to places where no foreign missionary can safely go.

Our approach leverages every available digital channel — WhatsApp chatbots, satellite TV, TikTok influencer teams, offline mesh networks, and online discipleship platforms — meeting Muslims and youth where they already are: on their phones and screens.

Our Vision

To see a digitally-empowered network of thriving indigenous churches across the Sahara Belt — built through AI-powered tools, satellite media, online discipleship platforms, and culturally-contextualised digital content — led by a new generation of local leaders reaching millions through every digital channel available.

02The Challenge

One of the most spiritually isolated regions on earth

The Sahara Belt is a vast expanse where political instability, extreme poverty, and pervasive extremist influence create formidable barriers to the Gospel. For centuries, these communities have been largely unreached, with Islam deeply embedded in the social and cultural fabric.

Youth constitute over 60% of the population in countries like Niger and Chad — particularly vulnerable, lacking education and economic opportunities, making them prime targets for extremist recruitment. Traditional missionary methods are severely restricted.

The challenge is not only to present the Gospel — but to do so safely, at scale, and sustainably amidst these complex and often dangerous realities.

03Our Approach

A multi-faceted, digitally-driven
invasion of spiritual strongholds

Our model empowers local believers and deploys innovative technology to reach what traditional methods cannot — no foreign missionaries required on the ground.

Digital Frontline

Satellite TV, solar-powered audio Bibles, AI chatbots, and secure mobile apps deliver the Gospel in Hausa, Fulfulde, and Bambara — bypassing every physical restriction.

Community Transformation

Oasis Centers combine digital literacy, vocational training, and healthcare — demonstrating Christ's love practically and opening trusted pathways to the Gospel.

Leadership Incubation

Training young, faithful leaders in digital discipleship, online community management, and media creation — ensuring indigenous ownership and long-term exponential growth.

Data-Driven Engagement

AI-powered analytics identify the spiritual questions Muslim youth are asking — enabling hyper-targeted content that presents Jesus as the compassionate Savior, not a foreign deity.

Amina's
Story

Niger · West Africa

"The algorithm, becoming an unlikely conduit of grace, led her to a private Telegram channel. A voice from a distant city answered her whispered questions about Isa al-Masih."

Amina's world was the dusty courtyard of her family's compound in Niger. Her future was predetermined — a marriage arranged by her uncle. But a crack appeared in the walls of her world when a smuggled smartphone brought a forbidden signal. Scrolling secretly, she found a TikTok video of a young woman speaking of a love so profound it could erase shame.

For months, her digital conversations were a secret treasure. When despair threatened to swallow her, she messaged her mentor: "Is this God's plan for me?" The response was not a simple answer, but the story of a woman at a well who met a prophet who knew everything she had ever done — and still offered her living water. Amina knew then. She prayed to this knowing, loving God. Now her phone is a tiny lantern in the immense desert night, and she discreetly shares hope with other young women in her situation.

Ibrahim's
Journey

Mopti · Mali

"I thought God was like my own father — angry and distant. Modibo showed me He is a Father who runs."

Ibrahim was a talented welder in Mopti, Mali, but his skills couldn't weld together the pieces of his broken spirit. Haunted by his past and disillusioned by the empty promises of militant groups that preyed on young men like him, he drifted into bitterness. He attended our Oasis Center's welding workshop purely for the free meal, his cynicism a shield.

The trainer, Modibo, didn't just teach him to join metal — he shared the parable of the prodigal son one afternoon as they worked. Ibrahim's tough exterior crumbled. He began attending a discreet Bible study at the center. Today, his welding torch not only mends tools but symbolizes the light he now carries. He is training other young men, teaching them that true strength is found not in a weapon, but in forgiveness and becoming a son of the waiting Father.
