Reaching Gambia's Unreached

Gambia is one of the most unreached nations on Earth, with 96% of its 2.8 million people Muslim. The Mandinka, Wolof, and Fula peoples have historically been inaccessible to the Gospel.

The digital approach — using WhatsApp and encrypted apps — allows for safe, private, and culturally relevant relationship-building. As a local believer put it: "The Gospel cannot be stopped by borders or walls." With 90% mobile penetration, Gambia is digitally primed for this mission.

Priority target groups:

  • The unreached Muslim majority (96%)
  • Mandinka, Wolof, and Fula ethnic groups
  • Digitally connected youth and urban populations

MONTORING & EVALUATION
Data-Driven Accountability

A digital dashboard tracks key metrics across all channels — with secure protocols to protect believers in a 96% Muslim context. Quarterly reviews adapt strategy. Ten short plus two documentary testimony videos are produced annually via trusted partners. The national CCC office provides oversight. Language-specific engagement is tracked across Mandinka, Wolof, and Fula separately to ensure each unreached people group is reached effectively.

Ousman Jallow
23 · Banjul · Mandinka Seeker Turned Believer
Ousman grew up in a household where faith and daily life were inseparable — five prayers a day, communal fasting, mosque on Fridays. He had never met a Christian. A Mandinka-language WhatsApp audio, shared by an unknown contact, asked a question that lodged itself in him: 'Have you ever wondered if God can be known personally, not just feared?' He didn't delete it. Over the following days he listened again, then requested to speak privately with the sender. A trained digital missionary met him in a closed WhatsApp group and walked him through Mandinka gospel story audios — no pressure, no confrontation, simply stories. 'I wasn't told to leave Islam,' Ousman recalls. 'I was shown someone I had never known before: a God who wanted to be a Father, not just a Judge.' He gave his life to Christ after two months of listening. He meets weekly with a small digital fellowship of four other Gambian believers.
"I thought faith meant distance from God — obeying without closeness. Then I heard something different." Today, Ousman is in digital missionary training and producing Mandinka-language devotional audio content.
