Africa Digital Discipleship Project
Empowering Lives Through Digital Strategies
Why the Africa Digital Discipleship Project?
Africa is undergoing a digital revolution. In recent years, mobile phone subscriptions in Africa have surpassed 600 million people. Africa is also the fastest and largest growing Church globallyi with the youngest median age. We have a unique opportunity to reposition missions in Africa and equip a new generation of digital champions and missionaries.
In August 2023, Digital Strategies Africa hosted a Digital Summit in Lusaka, Zambia that drew digital champions from 30 countries. The goal of the Summit was to identify missional gaps and creatively design opportunities to reach into the African harvest. At the end of the Summit, the 30 nations signed the Lusaka Declaration committing to collaboration, prayer, and digital innovation to reach the missional gaps in Africa on an unprecedented scale. This declaration has inspired the Digital Discipleship Project, which seeks to reach and disciple 50 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa through leveraging digital tools and platforms.
Our Vision
A digitally empowered Africa where every person has access to the Gospel and every believer is equipped to make disciples online
Our Mission
To equip churches, leaders, and digital missionaries with the tools, training, and resources needed to transform Africa’s digital spaces into vibrant arenas of evangelism, discipleship, and innovation.
What’s the problem?
The problem in Sub-Saharan Africa is multifaceted, with challenges such as poverty, disease, and spiritual darkness affecting millions of individuals. Despite efforts, there are still significant missional gaps and unreached people groups, hindering access to the Gospel message. Without intervention, communities will continue to struggle with limited resources, lack of spiritual guidance, and social challenges.
What happens if the problem isn’t solved?
If the challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa are not addressed, communities will continue to face poverty, disease, and spiritual darkness. Missional gaps and unreached people groups will remain isolated from the transformative message of the Gospel, leading to continued cycles of despair and lack of access to spiritual resources
What are the opportunities and challenges?
Although there is a wealth of laborers who can be mobilized to face Africa’s significant missional gaps (an identifiable community and audience that lack the critical mass of multiplying disciples to effectively reach their community with the gospel ) composed of over 1900 unreached People Groups, two of the greatest challenges in Africa are infrastructure and financial capacity.
The major missional gaps that were identified at the Digital Champions Summit are the following:
Muslims
Women
Children, Youths and Students
Immigrants/Refugees
Isolated People Groups
The digital strategy national teams across Africa mostly have only 1-2 staff. The others team members are volunteers. However, our greatest challenge in reaching these missional gaps is not the lack of laborers. Having the infrastructure, and finances to recruit, equip and train new laborer to unleashing this huge missionary force.

What are we raising funds for?
We are raising funds to support the implementation of the Africa Digital Discipleship Project, which focuses on digital evangelism, discipleship, and community transformation in Sub-Saharan Africa. The funds will be used to establish 5 digital media centres, conduct outreach to Muslim populations (over 300 million), address missional gaps (almost 300), and resource national ministries (50) to become autonomous in their digital strategies
