Know Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa, bordered by South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, and Mozambique.

The capital city is Harare. Zimbabwe has a presidential system of government.

The country is known for its rich history, including the ancient city of Great Zimbabwe, which was the center of a powerful medieval kingdom.

Zimbabwe’s economy is based on agriculture, mining (especially gold and platinum), and tourism. It has fertile land, but economic challenges such as inflation, unemployment, and currency instability have affected development in recent years.

The population is diverse, mainly made up of the Shona and Ndebele ethnic groups. English is the official language, alongside Shona and Ndebele.

Zimbabwe is also known for natural attractions such as Victoria Falls, one of the largest and most famous waterfalls in the world.

Overall, Zimbabwe is recognized for its historical heritage, natural beauty, and economic potential despite ongoing challenges.

MISISONAL VISION
A Reaching Zimbabwe’s Unreached

Zimbabwe carries a strong Christian heritage but faces a growing crisis of youth despair. Decades of economic instability and political uncertainty have left a generation digitally connected yet spiritually apathetic — going through religious motions without genuine transformation. Traditional churches have struggled to reach rural communities in Matabeleland and Mashonaland, and women with limited access to healing media remain largely unserved.

The ADD strategy deploys a Youth Gospel & Creative Arts Hub training 250 youth in spoken word, TikTok, and podcasting, launches 30 Women’s Audio Healing groups, and plants 60 rural micro-churches using Shona and Chewa SD kits.

While Zimbabwe has a strong Christian heritage, a generation of youth and students faces deep social instability and spiritual apathy — digitally connected but unchurched. Rural communities in Matabeleland and Mashonaland remain underreached, and women with limited access to discipleship or healing media are a critical priority. A digital approach meets this generation where they live: on their phones, in their languages, and on their own terms.

“I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some of them.” — 1 Corinthians 9:22 NIV

Tatenda Moyo
24 · University Student, Harare · Youth Digital Missionary
Tatenda grew up attending church every Sunday in a family that prayed before meals and never missed Easter. Yet by university, faith felt inherited rather than personal — a set of habits with no heartbeat. When Zimbabwe's economy collapsed around him during his second year, that distance became despair. A TikTok video in Shona — a spoken word piece by a fellow student about identity and purpose — stopped his scroll at 2am. “He was speaking my language and my pain,” Tatenda says. A WhatsApp follow-up led him to a digital missionary who walked with him through a Discovery Bible Study over eight weeks. “I didn't find a new religion. I found the God I thought I already knew — for the first time, personally.”
“The economy took everything I thought my future was built on. Then something digital brought me back to the only foundation that doesn't collapse.” Tatenda now leads a WhatsApp creative arts group for 19 fellow students exploring faith through spoken word.
