Missional Vision

Reaching Congo (Kinshasa)'s Unreached

The DRC is plagued by long-standing conflict and a massive displacement crisis. While a large majority identify as Christian, many are unchurched or lack sound biblical teaching. The critical gap: providing safe, continuous discipleship to displaced populations in active conflict zones.

Using solar-powered media kits and multilingual content in Swahili and Lingala, this project brings the Gospel to refugee camps that are physically off-limits to traditional missionaries.

Priority target groups:

  • Displaced populations in active conflict zones
  • Refugees in camps that are physically off-limits to traditional missionaries
  • Unchurched individuals lacking sound biblical teaching
  • Swahili and Lingala speaking communities

"The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble." — Psalm 9:9 NIV

Data-Driven Accountability

A secure digital dashboard tracks gospel exposures, decisions, and follow-up across all channels — with humanitarian data-handling protocols for displacement contexts. Quarterly reviews drive adaptation. Ten short plus two documentary testimony videos produced annually. The national CCC office provides oversight. IDP/refugee camp metrics are tracked separately from urban Kinshasa outreach to ensure both populations are served.

Esther Mutombo
19 · IDP Camp, North Kivu · Youth Digital Storyteller
Esther was displaced when she was fifteen. She spent two years in a camp near Goma with no school, no church, and a phone with a cracked screen that still connected to WhatsApp. A solar audio kit arrived at the camp with gospel stories in Lingala — the language of her childhood. 'I had been so angry at God,' she says. 'But the stories did not start with rules. They started with people who were also broken.' She joined a women's WhatsApp listening circle facilitated by a local female digital mentor, working through trauma-informed Scripture studies. 'For the first time, I thought God understood what had happened to me.' She gave her life to Christ and, at eighteen, became the youngest digital storyteller in the camp's media team — producing Lingala reconciliation content for other displaced youth.
"I thought God was for people who still had a home. But He found me in the camp." Esther's audio stories now reach six other IDP settlements across North Kivu via Bluetooth sharing.
