Missional Vision

Reaching Congo (Brazzaville)’s Unreached

Congo (Brazzaville) may seem predominantly Christian, but in its bustling cities like Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, a profound spiritual apathy is setting in. Many residents identify with the faith yet possess no active connection to a church or spiritual community, creating a critical loophole in effective discipleship. This spiritually disconnected but digitally-native population represents a major, under-addressed "unreached" demographic.

The ADD strategy meets them where they are — on their phones — deploying culturally contextualized digital content, virtual communities, and indigenous digital missionaries to bridge the gap between cultural Christianity and authentic relationship with Christ.

Congo (Brazzaville) has a high Christian population, but a significant portion of urban residents are ‘unchurched’ — identifying as Christian with no active connection to church or community. As a local pastor noted: ‘We have big buildings and sermons, but the people we want to reach are on their phones.’ This project reaches them there — using social media, podcasts, and digital events to build community that leads to lasting relationship with Christ.

"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." — Mark 16:15 NIV

Data-Driven Accountability

A digital dashboard tracks gospel exposures, decisions, and follow-up across all 15 channels in real time. Quarterly reviews drive strategy. Ten short plus two documentary testimony videos are produced annually. The national CCC office provides oversight. Unchurched urban and Muslim minority outreach metrics are tracked separately to ensure both priority populations are served.

Marlène Itoua
22 · Brazzaville · Unchurched Believer Turned Digital Disciple
Marlène had been baptised as a child but had not stepped inside a church in years. 'I believed in God the way I believed in air,' she said. 'I knew it was there, but I didn't think about it.' A Facebook reel — a young Congolese woman speaking in Lingala about her own spiritual emptiness and what filled it — stopped her mid-scroll. 'She looked like me. She spoke like me. I shared it before I even finished watching.' She joined a WhatsApp group that met digitally every Tuesday evening, working through Bible stories in Lingala with a trained digital shepherd. 'I thought I already knew the Gospel,' Marlène recalls. 'What I discovered was I had never actually met it.' She gave her life to Christ and enrolled in missionary training within the year.
"Church felt like someone else's language. This felt like mine." Today, Marlène leads a Tuesday digital fellowship group of fourteen unchurched young professionals in Brazzaville.
