Guinea-Bissau is a small country on the west coast of Africa, bordered by Senegal and Guinea, with a coastline along the Atlantic Ocean.The capital city is Bissau. The country gained independence from Portugal in 1973 after a liberation struggle.Guinea-Bissau has a diverse population made up of several ethnic groups, and Portuguese is the official language, though Creole and local African languages are widely spoken.The economy is mainly based on agriculture, especially the export of cashew nuts, which are a major source of income. Fishing is also important. However, the country faces challenges such as political instability, poverty, and limited infrastructure.Guinea-Bissau is also known for the beautiful Bijagós Archipelago, a group of islands rich in biodiversity and ecotourism potential.Overall, Guinea-Bissau is recognized for its cultural diversity, coastal islands, and agriculture-based economy.

Guinea-Bissau’s spiritual landscape is a complex blend of indigenous, Muslim, and Christian beliefs, with nearly half the population practising traditional African religions. Past ministry has been unable to effectively engage communities rooted in animism and spiritual syncretism.

Audio storytelling and contextual Gospel witness in Crioulo and Fula speak to a culture that values oral tradition — bypassing these barriers and bringing truth to places historically inaccessible to the church.

A digital dashboard tracks gospel exposures, decisions, and follow-up across all channels. Quarterly reviews drive strategy adjustment. Ten short plus two documentary testimony videos are produced annually. The national CCC office provides oversight. Animist-background outreach, Muslim minority engagement, and Christian youth discipleship metrics are tracked separately to ensure Guinea-Bissau's unique spiritual complexity is addressed with precision.

Amadu Baldé
27 · Bafatá · Former Animist, Now Digital Missionary
Amadu grew up in a village where the spirit world and the living world were never separated. His grandmother's rituals were his first understanding of the sacred. He came to Bafatá for work and bought a secondhand phone. A Fula-language audio clip — shared by a market vendor — told a creation story that sounded familiar but ended in a way he had never heard: a Creator who loved what He had made and came to rescue it. 'I listened for days,' Amadu recalls. 'Each story answered a question I had from childhood.' A WhatsApp group connected him with a trained digital missionary who guided him through Crioulo Bible stories for six weeks. 'My grandmother's world had power,' he says carefully. 'But this had love. I had never heard of a God who loved.' He gave his life to Christ and joined a local micro-church fellowship — the first evangelical believer from his family line in three generations.
"Every story from my childhood spoke of spirits and power. This was the first one that spoke of love." Today, Amadu produces Fula-language audio gospel content reaching rural communities across the Bafatá region.
